Having a glass of red wine and a puff, can really improve my view of the day!  INFORMATION is POWER and my brain connected the dots!   Cannabis Infused WINE – why not?

As someone who has always had an appreciation for both the relaxing qualities of a glass of red wine and the potential health benefits of cannabis, I was intrigued when I first heard about cannabis-infused red wine. The idea of combining two natural substances, each with its own set of health and wellness benefits, seemed like a match made in heaven. After trying it for myself and delving into the research, I’ve come to appreciate the unique qualities of this harmonious blend.

First and foremost, it’s important to understand the individual benefits of red wine and cannabis. Red wine, when consumed in moderation, has long been associated with heart health. It contains a compound called resveratrol, which is believed to have antioxidant properties that can protect the lining of blood vessels in the heart. This is thought to be one of the reasons why moderate red wine consumption has been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease. Additionally, red wine is known for its relaxation properties and the potential to lower stress levels, which can indirectly benefit overall well-being.

Cannabis, on the other hand, has a range of health and wellness benefits associated with it. The two primary cannabinoids in cannabis, THC and CBD, play key roles in these benefits. THC is known for its psychoactive effects, which can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, much like red wine. CBD, on the other hand, is non-psychoactive and has been found to have various potential health benefits, including pain relief, anxiety reduction, and anti-inflammatory properties. The combination of these cannabinoids, along with the dozens of other minor cannabinoids and terpenes found in cannabis, can offer a unique blend of effects that have the potential to promote overall well-being.

Now, let’s explore the concept of cannabis-infused red wine. This innovative combination brings together the health benefits of red wine with the potential therapeutic properties of cannabis. When done correctly, the infusion process allows the two substances to complement each other in a way that can enhance the overall experience.

Cannabis-Infused Red Wine: A Harmonious Blend of Health and Wellness

One of the key health benefits of cannabis-infused red wine is the potential to amplify the relaxation properties of both red wine and cannabis. For those looking to unwind after a long day or reduce stress and anxiety, this combination can be particularly effective. The synergistic effects of the compounds in red wine and cannabis can provide a deeper sense of relaxation and a heightened state of well-being.

Another potential benefit is the ability to manage pain and inflammation. The anti-inflammatory properties of both red wine’s resveratrol and cannabis’s CBD can work together to provide relief for those suffering from chronic pain conditions or even just the aches and pains of everyday life. While this isn’t a replacement for medical treatment, it can be a complementary approach for individuals seeking natural alternatives.

Additionally, the antioxidants in red wine, particularly resveratrol, can work in harmony with the antioxidants found in cannabis to support overall health. Antioxidants help combat free radicals in the body, which are responsible for aging and various diseases. By combining the antioxidant-rich properties of red wine and cannabis, you may enhance your body’s ability to fend off oxidative stress.

However, it’s crucial to highlight that the dosage and balance between red wine and cannabis in this fusion must be carefully managed. Overconsumption of alcohol, including red wine, can have adverse effects on health, and excessive cannabis consumption can lead to discomfort or anxiety. Therefore, moderation is key when enjoying cannabis-infused red wine.

If your curiosity is now piqued and you want to try some on the market – do a google search – I’ve really got to hand it to Californians on this one – they have an amazing selection. They’ve taken two of their most abundant crops — wine grapes and weed –and combined them to create cannabis cabernets. I’m Truly hoping that Niagara Winery’s follows suit!

In the meantime, I managed to stumble into meeting a fella who makes his own cannabis wine.  I asked for the recipe out of curiosity …. and TADAA….. Here it is for your interest and pleasure. If anyone tries the recipe… PLEASE send me a bottle I would love to review it for you!

Ingredients:

  • 1-gallon boiling water
  • 4 oz (fresh) marijuana stalks, leaves, branches
  • 4 lbs sugar (or honey for a mead-like wine)
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 cup black tea
  • 1 tsp yeast (wine rather than bakers?)

Preparation:

  • In a sterilized bucket, six pints pour boiling water over the freshly chopped-up marijuana trim. Cover with a muslin cloth, and leave for several days, stirring each day with a sterile plastic spoon.
  • Prepare orange and lemon – remove all skin, pith, and all white bits and chop remainder, put to one side.
  • Make a strong cup of black tea (Americans may need to use two tea bags)
  • Dissolve sugar in 2 pints of boiling water. Allow to cool. Add this sugar mix, orange and lemon bits, black tea, and yeast to the bucket. Stir, cover again, and let stand for 24 hours in a warm place.
  • Strain through muslin into a clean demijohn and fit an airlock.
  • Ferment in a warm place until there is sediment, rack (filter off leaving sediment behind), and return to clean demijohn and fit airlock again.
  • Ferment in a warm place until it finishes (no more air through the lock, clear liquid), bottle as usual.

In conclusion, cannabis-infused red wine represents a unique and potentially beneficial marriage of two substances that have been enjoyed for centuries. When consumed responsibly and in moderation, it has the potential to promote relaxation, reduce stress, alleviate pain, and offer antioxidant support. As with any health and wellness product, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional and do your own research to determine if cannabis-infused red wine is right for you. It’s a fascinating and promising development in the world of natural remedies, offering a new way to unwind and enhance one’s well-being in a responsible and mindful manner.
